Preferred digital community futures
The proposed fellowship activities focus on strategic foresight workshops to empower museum professionals and community members in envisioning and shaping their digital futures.
The core of Lauren’s research involves conducting strategic foresight workshops with Birmingham Museums Trust staff and community members. These workshops aim to:
- Envision preferred futures: Participants will collaborate to imagine their ideal digital futures for the next decade, identifying aspirations and expectations from cultural institutions.
- Assess digital readiness: The workshops will evaluate Birmingham Museums Trust and its community’s readiness to meet these envisioned futures, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement in digital capabilities.
- Foster collaborative imagination: By bringing together diverse perspectives, the workshops will create a platform for co-creating digital strategies that prioritize community needs and desires. In addition, similar workshops will be conducted with at least three participating organizations in the Future Museum Project to ensure a broad range of insights and experiences, enriching the overall understanding of digital futures in the cultural sector.
