Dr Ros Williams is Senior Lecturer in Digital Media and Society at the University of Sheffield. Their research engages mainly with science and technology studies, the sociologies of race and ethnicity, and of health and illness.

From 2019 to 2023, Ros was a Wellcome Trust Research Fellow leading Mix & Match, a research project exploring racialised bone marrow stem cell donor recruitment. They previously worked on a digital health self-monitoring project – Tracking Ourselves?. At Sheffield, Ros is the co-leader for the Science, Technology and Medicine in Society research theme, and sits on the executive committee of iHuman, Sheffield’s interdisciplinary research institute for the study of what it means to be human.

As Equity Challenge Leader for the Digital Good Network, Ros helps lead the network and champions the equity challenge area, ensuring equity is represented in all network activities.
