The racialised representation and monetisation of children
Wednesday 11 October 2023, 1:15pm-2:30pm
Online
At this seminar, Isabelle Higgins – the new Digital Good Network postdoctoral researcher on Digital Wellness and Disinformation – will draw on findings from three years of digital ethnographic research to show how digital technology is being used to represent and monetise children deemed eligible for adoption into families in the USA. She will also highlight the representational complexities contained within the work of adoptive parent social media influencers, who portray their children of colour in their digital influencing practices.
